Doris Brendel & Lee Dunham – RELOCATED

Saturday, 3 June 2023

Due to the given circumstances the event is relocated.
For more information please visit Doris Brendel’s website.

Doris Brendel is one of the most accomplished and exciting live singers on the scene.

Doris and Lee Dunham are appearing in a series of intimate acoustic shows across the UK in 2023.

Two musicians, two acoustic guitars and the unforgettable night.

You may do a double-take if you see Doris Brendel and her producer and guitarist Lee Dunham with a couple of acoustic guitars.
The pair have been gracing O2 venues across the country with their full electric band and have embarked on several European tours with both Wishbone Ash and former Marillion frontman Fish over the last few years…

Unwilling to go quietly when COVID stamped a huge boot on their tour plans, Doris and Lee have decided that some ‘unplugged’ shows will be their chosen direction of travel until the next big tour in 2024. It may not be the theatrical pomp and melodic prog rock of the full band shows, but their acoustic set has been described as “esoteric singer-songwriter with bluesy twist meets charismatic chat and humour” – indeed some of the songs like ‘Today I Sold Myself on Ebay’ and ‘Passport to Peckham’ have an ear-worm quality that makes them very hard to forget.

Doris and Lee are currently recording their 5th studio album together, but the singer has an incredible 17 albums to her name, not to mention a vast catalogue of session work. The daughter of famed classical pianist Alfred Brendel, her distinctive vocals were the driving force behind 1990s alt-rockers The Violet Hour, who were signed to Sony when they released their now revered, classic album ‘The Fire Sermon’ in 1991.

Doris’s work with producer Lee Dunham reflects her multi-faceted personality with an eclectic collection of songs popularly described as ‘Progressive Pop’. ‘Mass Hysteria’ received rave reviews across the board. Think Janis Joplin or Skunk Anansie getting down with the Beatles and Muse.

Doris has worked with some notable people over the years, including Alvin Lee, Gary Moore, Sam Brown, Joe Brown, Herbie Flowers, and has toured extensively with Marillion as well as Nils Lofgren, John Farnham and Steve Marriott. She was also offered to sing with Pink Floyd on the Great Gig in the Sky tour, which she had to turn down due to already contracted tour commitments.

Over the last few years she has completed several European tours – both with Wishbone Ash and also with Marillion’s Fish, as well as singing backing vocals for him live and on Fish’s acclaimed double-album ‘Weltschmerz’ .
